Types of kretek

1. KLOBOT


Klobot is a cigarette whose packaging material is corn husk. The word klobot is taken from the Javanese language. Kelobot is a bract that surrounds the cob which is also used as a substitute for cigarette paper for rolling tobacco. It is very rare for this type of kretek to be found, usually these smokers are among people who are old.


2. HAND KRETEK CIGARETTE


Hand kretek cigarettes are cigarettes made by grinding or rolling using hands and/or simple tools. The wrapping material is papyrus paper, the method of processing is that each cigarette is ground one by one with a wooden grinder. Around 60 million smokers, 90% of whom are kretek connoisseurs. However, the number of connoisseurs of hand-rolled kretek (SKT) has decreased, surpassed by machine-made kretek (SKM). The data reported by Ernest end Young shows the volume of SKT in 2014 was 60 billion sticks, far behind SKM in the same year, which reached 199 billion sticks.


3. MACHINE CRETEK CIGARETTE


Cigarettes whose manufacturing process uses machines. Simply put, the cigarette material is fed into the cigarette making machine. The output of the cigarette making machine is in the form of cigarettes and is filtered at each end. Currently, cigarette-making machines have been able to produce an output of around six thousand to eight thousand cigarettes per minute.


Machine-made kretek cigarettes themselves can be categorized into 2 parts, namely:


Full Flavor Machined Kretek Cigarettes (SKM FF): the manufacturing process is added with a distinctive aroma

Light Mild Machined Kretek Cigarettes (SKM LM): use low tar and nicotine content. This type of cigarette rarely uses a distinctive aroma.
